“India is forging ahead in developing novel biopharmaceuticals, generic drugs, diagnostics and agricultural biotechnology products and handling contract services right from R&D to manufacturing. At this point in time, as an interdisciplinary technology, analysis is of great importance to the industry,” said Nikolaus Wollmann, Deputy Managing Director, IMAG, a subsidiary of Munich International Trade Fairs. He was talking at the announcement of Analytica-Anacon 2006. It is an international trade fair and conference for analytical instrumentation, biotechnology, laboratory technology and services. This year the trade fair is being organised jointly by IMAG and the Indian Analytical Instruments Association with the support of Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. Tailored especially to the needs of India’s fast growing market, this trade fair aims at giving international exhibitors an opportunity to tap the Indian market.

Asia is a large, rapidly growing market for instrumental analysis and laboratory technology. Along with China, India is considered to be one of the most important growth markets for analysis, laboratory technology, diagnostic and biotechnology solutions in Asia. On this favourable setting, the range of exhibits at Analytica-Anacon is broken down into sectors for instrumental analysis, measuring and testing equipment, quality control, laboratory technology, biotechnology and diagnostics. Of the approximately 120 exhibitors expected at the fair, some two-thirds are globally active companies and non-Indian manufacturers. Besides giving visitors look at the latest solutions and developments that the industry has to offer, Analytica-Anacon 2006, in November, will also help participants to establish new business contacts and actively promote dialogue between the industrial and scientific sectors. The scientific Analytica-Anacon conference will be held in conjunction with this year’s fair, the first-rate programme of events being co-ordinated by the Indian Analytical Instruments Association.
