According to data on the China Securities Regulatory Commission‘s, Chinese companies raised CNY33.81 billion from the domestic stock markets in 2005. However, the amount raised last year was significant lower than the amount raised in the previous year, as share offerings were suspended from late April for the non-tradable share-reform program.

Last year saw Chinese companies raise CNY5.67 billion through initial public offerings and CNY28.14 billion from additional share offerings and rights issues on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges last year. CSRC further said that Chinese companies raised US$18.92 billion from the Hong Kong stock market in 2005. Turnover on China’s stock markets stood at CNY3.17 trillion in 2005, a decline of 25.21% y/y.
