AIG Makes Senior Appointments, Plus Other People Moves

American International Group has named Rodney Martin as junior chief operating officer of its worldwide life insurance business.

American International Group has named Rodney Martin as junior chief operating officer of its worldwide life insurance business. He will remain chairman, president and CEO of AIG American General Life Companies and AIG executive v.p. of life insurance. He will report to Edmund Tse, AIG senior vice-chairman of life insurance.

AIG has made a number of other appointments. Charles Williamson has been appointed president of the AIG private client group. He replaces Ross Buchmueller, who has left the organisation. Williamson was previously president of AIG WorldSource.

Christopher Sparro will succeed Williamson in the role of president of AIG WorldSource. Sparro was previously the zonal executive for domestic general insurance in the greater New York region for AIG.

Douglas Worman will take Sparro’s old role. He was previously president of the public company management liability division of AIG’s National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Penn.

• Bermudian insurer XL Capital has appointed Eileen McCusker as chief operating officer for the U.K. and Ireland regions. She replaces Dermot O’Donohoe, who is now heading XL Insurance’s speciality operations. McCusker was previously branch managing director and deputy chief executive for the U.K. and Ireland with responsibility for Scandinavia and South Africa.

• Bermudian insurer Ace has appointed Kevin Dunham as senior v.p. and branch manager for Ace Risk Management’s Los Angeles branch. Dunham was previously regional vice-president for ESIS, the risk management services organisation of Ace USA.

• Bermudian reinsurance group Montpelier Re Holdings has appointed Neil Greenspan as chief accounting officer of the group and Montpelier Re, its main operating subsidiary. He was previously vice-president of accounting at Ace Financial Solutions International.

In addition, the company has hired William Pollett treasurer and senior v.p. of the group and Montpelier Re, effective Feb. 1. Pollett also comes from Ace. He was previously chief financial officer of Ace Tempest Re and senior financial analyst and senior v.p. of Ace.

The two men will replace Neil McConachie, the former treasurer and chief accounting officer of Montpelier Re Holdings and Montpelier Re, who left on Jan. 26. He submitted his notice on Nov. 15.

Illium Insurance Group, which manages Syndicate 4040 at Lloyd’s, has appointed Sebastian Hueskes as a non-executive director. Hueskes is managing director and general manager of reinsurer Munich Re‘s U.K. general branch.

• The Market Reform Group, an organization responsible for process reform in the London insurance market, has named Dane Douetil as chairman. Douetil, group chief executive of U.K. insurer Brit, succeeds Nick Prettejohn who stepped down in December 2005.

Douetil will give up his role as chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association when he assumes his new role at MRG. He will remain on LMA’s board.

Aon has promoted Tim Davies, Jon Higgins and Jim Rutherford to directors of its mergers and acquisitions group. Giles Murphy has been promoted to associate director.
