Harris Nesbitt is looking to hire about 10 bankers in Chicago next year beefing up investment banking to leverage commercial lending business in the city. Dominic Petito, co-head of investment banking, said the firm is looking for managing directors, directors and v.p.s.

Specifically, it is looking for a senior banker to head the media and telecom group as Bruce Eatroff, the head of the team, recently left his position to join BMO Halyard Partners, the firm’s private equity affiliate. Eatroff’s position might be filled by an external or internal candidate. Bankers in the food, real estate, financial institutions, commercial and industrial sectors are being sought, said Petito.

This year, Harris Nesbitt added several investment bankers in New York including James Love, a former Merrill Lynch banker, to head healthcare. Petito said the firm is not looking to significantly grow its New York office at this point. Recently, Carlos Conde, head of U.S equity capital markets, left the firm and was succeeded by William Schreier, a managing director in the group (CFW, 12/9).
