African-American Female Analyst Seeking $29M From CSFB Over Bias

A former analyst who claims she was the only African-American female in a Credit Suisse First Boston department of 125 people has sued the firm for $29.2 million, claiming the bank repeatedly took away assignments from her and gave them to less-experienced white males. Anthia Christian, in her arbitration claim reported in the New York Post, says on four occasions the bank made the reassignments, which the Harvard-educated analyst claims ultimately resulted in a reduction in her compensation. Christian, who says she was dismissed in December 2004 without a bonus, alleges that other women in her division had left the bank for similar reasons. CSFB says the charges are “wholly without merit.”
