Bosnia: Turnover On Sarajevo Stock Exchange Reaches €283.78 Million In 2005

The Sarajevo Stock Exchange registered a total turnover of KM555.35 million (€283.78 million) in 2005, of which 67% resulted from trade with shares of free market issuers and the remainder from trade with shares of privatization investment funds (PIFs).

The Sarajevo Stock Exchange registered a total turnover of KM555.35 million (€283.78 million) in 2005, of which 67% resulted from trade with shares of free market issuers and the remainder from trade with shares of privatization investment funds (PIFs). The value of BIFX stock exchange index rose 18.84% in 2005. SASE’s Director Zlatan Dedic stressed that he expects a 50% increase in the turnover in 2006.

The largest turnover last year was recorded with the stocks of Tuzlanska banka (KM 63.87 million), followed by UPI Banka (KM 48.07 million), PIF Prof Plus (KM 30.03 million), PIF BIG (KM 26.73 million), Vares ore mine (KM 21.3 million), PIF Eurofond (KM 21.02 million), Kakanj cement factory (KM 18.4 million) and PIF MI Group (KM 17.47 million). Eurohaus brokerage house was awarded for making the highest turnover volume, whereas Raiffeisen Broker realized the largest number of transactions.
