Hedge Fund Rising Stars: Danny Sachnowitz

Danny Sachnowitz
Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Co.

Cut Danny Sachnowitz and he would bleed Texas. With a BA in economics from the University of Texas and an MBA from Texas State University, he took a job in 1994 as an analyst for the Texas Treasury and later became CIO for the investment division of the state comptroller’s office. He became deputy executive administrator of the Texas Permanent School Fund, a $20 billion endowment, in 2000. Two years later, Sachnowitz joined the $50 billion Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Co., a quasigovernmental entity that oversees endowments and capital pools, as deputy director and deputy CIO. Since 2009, the 43-year-old has helped the $3.2 billion endowment fund add hedge funds such as Davidson Kempner Capital Management, Eminence Capital and HealthCor Management.
