MAP Alternative Asset Management Co.
Investment advisory and fund-of-hedge-funds manager MAP Alternative Asset Management Co., with $25 billion of assets under advisory, benefits both from founding partner, president and CEO Kimberly Mounts’s expertise in credit derivatives and from her interest in cultural diversity. Drawing on her 15-plus years of experience in fixed-income derivatives, including 11 at Morgan Stanley and Goldman, Sachs & Co., MAP advises on credit-focused hedge funds. The firm, which she launched in 2006, also identifies hedge fund firms owned by high-profile women or minority members. Mounts, 46, is a founding member of the Southern California Committee for 100 Women in Hedge Funds and was among 140 invitees to a White House forum last fall that included top administration officials. She has a BS in electrical engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
