Hedge Fund Rising Stars: Simon Krinsky

Simon Krinsky
Hall Capital Partners

The son of a tennis instructor and an art teacher, Simon Krinsky emigrated with his family from South Africa to the U.S. at age two, in 1977. After earning an economics degree from Amherst College, Krinsky joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. as a financial analyst in convertible sales in New York. He took a year off, then rejoined Goldman in San Francisco to advise high-net-worth clients. In 2002 he moved to fund-of-hedge-funds manager Hall Capital Partners; two years later he transferred to New York and has been head of that office since 2007. Krinsky is Hall’s co-director of portfolio management, and he serves as an outsourced CIO to such foundations and endowments as Americans for the Arts, the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Drew University and the New York Botanical Garden. He is on the investment committees of Montefiore Medical Center, the New-York Historical Society and Summer Search, an organization that works with low-income students.
