Loredana Serra & team Morgan Stanley

New York–based Loredana Serra leads her six-member Morgan Stanley team to a second straight third-place appearance. Serra, who also captains a runner-up team in Retailing, is known for “firm opinions and great relationships with management,” in the words of one investor. The researchers upgraded the American depositary receipts of Mexican bottler Coca-Cola Femsa from equal weight to overweight in December, at $88.93, citing industry consolidation in Mexico. In April, after the ADRs had bubbled up 15.4 percent, to $102.62, but trailed the sector by 1.4 percentage points, they scaled them back to equal weight on valuation and lagging margins, among other concerns. That was premature. By the middle of July, the receipts had climbed another 20.7 percent, to $123.89; during the same period the sector fell 3.2 percent. — Ben Mattlin
