Consumer – Leisure: Second

 Robin FarleyUBS

In second place for a second year running is Robin Farley; the UBS analyst also claims a runner-up position in Gaming & Lodging. Money managers were impressed by the speed with which she alerted them to the fate of luxury cruise ship Costa Concordia. “She was the first one to make a call when the Costa Concordia slammed into rocks off the Tuscany coast, and she helped steer investors to safe harbor,” recalls one grateful client. Farley assured investors that the ship, which is owned by Costa Cruises parent company Carnival Corp., was likely to be amply covered by maritime insurance. She is currently bullish on London- and Miami-based Carnival, making the case that “after a challenging year in 2012, the company should be able to show recovering yields” next year. “Robin is the calming influence in the stormy seas of leisure investing,” adds another backer.
