The 2014 All-Brazil Research Team: Technology, Media & Telecommunications, No. 3: Andrew Campbell

Andrew Campbell Credit Suisse First-place appearances: 3

Total appearances: 10

Team debut: 2004 In his strongest showing on this lineup since 2010, Credit Suisse’s Andrew Campbell claims third place, rising from runner-up. Monitoring 14 of Brazil’s technology, media and telecommunications names from his office in São Paulo, the researcher recommends that investor favor tech names over telecoms players. “We believe a major issue for the telecom sector is likely to be consolidation, as we see several possible combinations of existing players that could lead to synergies and a more efficient market structure,” Campbell says. “Nonetheless, we see better opportunities in the technology sector, where companies are providing solutions that allow corporates to reduce costs and enhance their performance.” He cites as examples business process outsourcer Contax Participações of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo–based enterprise software provider Totvs, both of which earn outperform ratings from Campbell. His price objectives for the shares are 26 reais and 41 reais, respectively. At the end of July, Contax was trading at 17.10 reais and Totvs changed hands at 39.19 reais.
