Total appearances: 4
Team debut: 1993 For a second consecutive year, the HSBC team helmed by Javier Finkman and Francisco Schumacher captures the No. 3 spot. Schumacher also co-leads, with Ramiro Blazquez, a group that wins a runner-up position for its coverage of North Andean Countries. The six Argentina analysts cover 15 local companies from offices in Buenos Aires and New York. Unlike most of their peers, the HSBC researchers are bullish on the nation’s prospects leading up to the October 2015 general elections, based on their comparisons of the current environment with conditions that preceded the last election season. “The rally pricing in a potential government and policy change during the second half of 2010 was the steepest of the previous political cycle, and our view is that second half of 2014 is the period when the market will start rerating ahead of elections,” Schumacher says. Banks stand the greatest chance to gain, he adds, pointing again to patterns observed before the 2011 nationwide contests.
