Total appearances: 3

Analyst debut: 2012At No. 3 on this lineup for a second consecutive year is China International Capital Corp. researcher Bing Gao, whom one admirer praises as being “ahead of the pack on the electric-vehicle industry and all the battery materials involved.” From his office in Shanghai, Gao monitors 40 basic materials names and expects to expand coverage of the e-vehicle manufacturing chain. In November 2013 he began reporting on several materials suppliers in that production line, including Cangzhou MingZhu Plastic Co. and Shenzhen Capchem Technology Co. He favored the Cangzhou-based manufacturer because of growing demand for its specialty films used in separating lithium-ion batteries. Shenzhen’s Capchem he deemed attractive thanks to the expanding mix of specialty chemicals it provides to makers of those batteries. Late last month the stocks were up 91.6 percent, at 15.81 yuan, and 124.5 percent at 42.93 yuan, respectively. Over the same period the sector declined by 10.8 percent.
