Bruno Savaris

First-place appearances: 1

Total appearances: 2

Team debut: 2012

Credit Suisse’s Bruno Savaris, who debuted in first place in 2012, slips to second but maintains a loyal following. “I count on Bruno for fresh info,” declares one money manager. “He always has good connections.” Savaris, who also earns a runner-up spot in Transportation, covers seven companies from offices in São Paulo. He astutely upgraded components manufacturer Iochpe-Maxion from neutral to outperform in July 2012, at 20.26 reais, arguing that government stimuli would spur demand for trucks, buses and railcars — which in turn would boost parts sales. Sure enough shares of the São Paulo–based supplier took off. In October, after they had risen 31.3 percent, to 26.61 reais, and bested the sector by 21.1 percentage points, he declared them fully valued and lowered them back to neutral. By mid-July the stock had slipped 6.9 percent, to 24.78 reais. Savaris “is nimble and goes the extra mile,” affirms another satisfied client. — Ben Mattlin
