Bin (Ben) Lin of Morgan Stanley claims the No. 2 position, advancing from the third-place slot he held for two years. Lin believes that “the outlook for the life insurance segment remains uncertain,” he says, “and that insurers will still face a lot of challenges under the changing macro environment in China.” Overall, the nation’s insurance group dropped 2.7 percent over the 12 months through October, underperforming the broad market by 8.6 percentage points. Li declines to discuss specific companies, but he advises that money managers should prefer nonlife names over other subsectors. An economic recovery and government incentives to develop agricultural, credit and liability insurance “should bode well for the property and casualty insurers,” he explains. — Katie Gilbert
