Summit Rock Advisors

The growing ranks of the ultrawealthy want the same investment expertise as that given to the very best institutions, few of which manage money better than Harvard University. Summit Rock Advisors was co-founded in 2007 by Nancy Donohue, former vice president for external management at Harvard Management Co. The New York firm advises very wealthy families and charitable trusts on how to invest their liquid assets. At the same time it launched, Summit Rock was fortunate to score Jeff Kelly from New York–based fund-of-hedge-funds giant Blackstone Alternative Asset Management. As an associate at BAAM, Kelly worked with the allocation team. Today the Philadelphia native, whom managers and clients respect for his thoughtfulness, heads the investment team at Summit Rock, which has some $8 billion in assets under advisory. Kelly, 33, has a BS in business administration from Georgetown University, where he was valedictorian. Before joining BAAM he was part of a fixed-income portfolio management team at Deutsche Asset Management in New York.
