In third place on this revised lineup — which merges the Beverages sector with Cosmetics, Household & Personal Care Products — is Dara Mohsenian. The Morgan Stanley researcher, 40, claimed the same position on both rosters last year. In December, Mohsenian restated his positive outlook on Constellation Brands, a Victor, New York–headquartered global purveyor of more than 100 brands of beer, wines and spirits, including such labels as Corona beer, Mondavi wine and Svedka vodka. Deeming it his top play in the alcohol space, he advised investors that the market has underestimated Constellation’s beer volume growth opportunity. Indeed, management reported in July that its brands delivered two thirds of the domestic beer industry’s sales expansion in the fiscal quarter through May, driving an 11 percent year-over-year increase in net sales for that period, to $965.8 million. The shares have followed the beer bubbles, rising 35 percent by mid-September, to $127.35, compared with the S&P 500’s loss of 5.4 percent. “Dara is very good at getting the big picture right on stocks and pointing out valuation discrepancies, while not getting lost in minutiae of companies,” avers one portfolio manager.
