Analysts at Barclays, EFG-Hermes and HSBC are among those making their first appearances this year.

The 2015 iteration of Institutional Investor’s Emerging Europe, Middle East & Africa Research Team features a dozen previously unranked squads, most notably Renaissance Capital’s top-ranked Turkey Equity Strategy crew. This year the group is helmed by Michael Harris, who’s certainly no stranger to the Emerging EMEA team. Prior to joining RenCap last spring, Harris worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he led multiple teams to victory in Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa Equity Strategy; Emerging-Europe Equity Strategy; Middle East & North Africa Equity Strategy; and, of course, Turkey Equity Strategy. RenCap’s previous best showing in this sector was last year, when it finished in eighth place under the guidance of Charles Robertson and Daniel Salter.

This year’s other newcomers are:

* Barclays, Consumer/Discretionary. Team leaders: Rodney Salmon and Boris Vilidnitsky. Rank: Runner-up. Previous best: No. 14 (in 2014).

* Barclays, Metals & Mining. Team leader: Vladimir Sergievskiy. Rank: No. 2. Previous best: No. 12 (in 2014).
