Intesa Sanpaolo became Italy’s largest bank in 2007 after the merger of two leading Italian banking groups, Banca Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI. (Unicredit Group has since taken the lead role.) The Turin-based firm services some 11.1 million customers across the bank’s 4,500 branches.
