Company man

At a time when venerable names are flying off the letterheads and business cards of Wall Street’s ever-consolidating financial firms (R.I.P. Dean Witter and Smith Barney), Jeffrey Stevenson, 41, has managed to get his name added to a well-known moniker.

How did he turn media merchant bank Veronis Suhler into Veronis Suhler Stevenson? “I worked for 20 years,” says the new co-CEO. Stevenson arrived at the New York-based firm as a banking associate just six months after its founding by John Veronis and John Suhler in 1981. He took charge of the firm’s private equity unit, VS&A Communications Partners, in 1987. Now he’s in charge of getting new stationery. Says Stevenson, “It’s in the works.”
