Barnaby Grist, head of business development at Schwab Advisor Services unit, will exit the firm, The Wall Street Journal reports. Grist is leaving the firm to join Cetera Financial Group, a network of hybrid broker-dealers that offers brokerage services, advisory programs and related technologies to independent brokers.

In the new role at Cetera Financial, Grist will manage the expansion of the firm’s wealth-management services. Grist, who will join Cetera Financial on Feb. 10, 2010, will work under its CEO, Valerie Brown.
