John Kavanaugh, president of Opus Investment Management and cio of parent company The Hanover Insurance Group will leave both jobs at the end of the month. Ann Tripp, head of portfolio management at Opus, will assume his responsibilities. Part of the reason for his departure after 22 years with the firm is Hanover's sale of all of its life insurance and annuity subsidiaries to Goldman Sachs last year. "My responsibilities for the parent company were greatly diminished after that," he told MML. Daniel Desmarais, v.p. sales and marketing is also expected to depart sometime in March, though he could not be reached to confirm this.

Opus has an $800 million institutional business. Kavanaugh said he will decide during the next few months what his next move will be.
