Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox has met with New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two offices. According to MarketWatch, the two men also reviewed current securities-enforcement cases, though they provided no details about them.
“We have a number of cases where we’re cooperating at separate levels of government to go after some bad actors,” Cox told reporters. “We then talked about enforcement; we talked about some cases involving mutual funds.”
Spitzer added, “This is an ongoing effort to ensure that we’re on the same page, that we act in unison.”
