U.K. equity specialist Majedie Asset Management, with GBP3 billion in assets under management, plans to launch a U.K. Alpha fund in the second quarter, said Robert Harris, co-founder and fund manager in London. This will be its fourth offering since opening for business in 2003.

The alpha fund will be an offshoot of its successful U.K. Opportunities retail fund, which has grown to GBP120 million. The new fund could cater to institutional investors and will invest across the U.K. equity market spectrum. Analyst Jon Scriven, who joined Majedie last year from Fidelity Investments, will run the fund, said Harris.
