Ten top funding managers are putting their ideas together to deliver for Skandia Investment Management a fund that combines all their “best stock ideas” into a single fund. “It’s a unique concept which aims to maximize the benefits of multi-manager investing to the [fullest],” Skandia CEO James McCloud told Portfolio International. Lined up for the heavily U.K.-biased Skandia Best Ideas Fund are managers from Artemis, AXA Framlington, Gartmore, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and New Star. From outside the U.K. , managers from Martin Currie represent the U.S.; Odey Asset Management for Europe; First State to cover emerging markets; Schroders will focus on Japan; and Aberdeen for Asia. “The managers will have the flexibility to invest as they wish, to represent what managers might buy with their own money,” says McCloud, adding that several managers are “expected to invest in the new fund.” According to Portfolio International, the Skandia Best Ideas Fund is likely to have a portfolio of about 100 holdings to ensure diversification.
