Just ask Jason Ader, the star Bear Stearns analyst who has recently made a few cameos in New York's tabloids, courtesy of his friendship with Tara Reid, the 26-year-old star of the teen comedy American Pie and its just-released sequel, American Pie 2. Ader reportedly took up with Reid in early July, soon after she ended her engagement to MTV VJ Carson Daly. Then, last month, Reid had a bit part in a local scandal: She had been palling around with überpublicist Lizzie Grubman hours before Grubman plowed her Mercedes SUV into 16 people waiting outside a Hamptons hot spot. (Reid, the newspapers reported, wasn't with Grubman at the time of the accident; she had gone on to another club, where she met up with Ader following his taping of Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser.) Later in the month the New York Post ran a photo of Reid with a "mystery man" at a Madonna concert at Madison Square Garden. The mystery man? Ader. The analyst referred questions to a Bear Stearns spokesman, who declined to comment; Reid's rep didn't return calls. But the Post is never without a comment. Says "Page Six" gossip writer Paula Froelich: "Her parents have got to be thrilled. He's definitely the kind of guy they'd want her to end up with: smart, successful, rich."
