Kansas Public Employees Retirement System has appointed Elizabeth Miller as its new CIO, Pensions & Investments reports. She will replace Robert Smith, who left the position in September to become deputy state investment officer of the $15 billion New Mexico State Investment Council, Santa Fe.

The system did not appoint any interim CIO. Miller serves as director of investments for the State of Kansas Pooled Money Investment Board. She previously served as the $12.5 billion retirement system’s CIO from 1991 to 1996.
