Google has offered $280 million to finance a portfolio of small solar projects installed by SolarCity.

Google has offered $280 million to finance a portfolio of small solar projects installed by SolarCity, The Wall Street Journal reports. Google will supply the funds over two years and get a return through lease payments and federal tax credits that accrue to solar projects.

SolarCity leases solar systems to residential and commercial customers. Google has invested $680 million in renewable energy projects till date.
