Ratings on European commercial mortgage-backed securities may face downgrades as difficulties related to refinancing and a slow economic recovery could reduce the CMBS’ creditworthiness, according to Moody’s Investors Service. Moody’s also said austerity programs across Europe could have a negative impact on the job market and consumer spending, which in turn could affect landlords of office and retail properties and ultimately on the performance of commercial loans.
