Banco de España is considering possible asset-protection schemes for buyers of the states troubled cajas, or savings banks, according to Fernandez Ordonez, governor of the central bank. Ordonez said the schemes were an option in the event the central bank’s structuring plans for the cajas turn out to be not viable and it instead tries to auction them off.
