New derivatives rules are set to be postponed by six months, Financial Times reports. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are writing regulations to standardize over-the-counter derivatives to be cleared and traded on electronic exchanges, or exchange-like entities.
The CFTC voted in favour of delaying the ‘self-executing reforms’ until as late as December 31 or until the agency has finalized corresponding rules. Some new rules are due to come into force automatically on the July 16 deadline.
