The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will award $5 million to Nigerian state governors, Afrique en ligne, reports. The money will specifically be given to any Nigerian state governor whose state passes a pre-defined threshold to develop routine immunization coverage and end polio.

The foundation will provide a $500,000 grant to the states that meet the threshold criteria to support their top health priorities. The money will also help winning governors’ priority initiatives in public health, such as malaria and tuberculosis, improving immunization, or HIV prevention and treatment.
