Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has been asked by a London court to pay $162 million to Standard Chartered Bank, Reuters reports. The order is over oil derivatives that it stopped payment on in 2008, adds Lanka Business Online. The Lankan state-owned company also stopped payments on oil derivatives to Citibank, Deutsche Bank, People’s Bank and Commercial Bank of Ceylon. The total claimed from CPC by the five banks is $418 million.
