Communications and information technology company, Harris, will acquire software maker, Carefx, to expand in the market for healthcare information services. Harris will pay about $155 million in cash and commercial paper for the acquisition. The deal is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2011. Harris, which provides health information exchange services to the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments, will offer Carefx software to government clients.
