The Royal Bank of Scotland has raised $1.5 billion in a debt issue, The Wall Street Journal reports. The notes carry a coupon rate of 4.375% and are due to mature in 2016. The offering provided a risk premium of 243 basis points over Treasurys. The bank intends to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which could include the repayment of remaining debt securities.
