BlackRock has published a report predicting that global assets under management in exchange-traded funds and exchange-traded products may reach $2 trillion by the start of 2012, Financial Times reports. The Global ETF Research and Implementation Strategy team report forecasts the asset class to increase by 20-30% year-on-year over the next three years. The ETFs assets under management may achieve $2 trillion globally by the end of 2012, $1 trillion in the U.S. in 2011 and $500 billion in Europe in 2013. Currently there are 3503 products with assets worth $1.4 trillion worldwide.
