UBS has appointed Gerard Aquilina as vice-chairman of global emerging markets, effective from May 18, The Wall Street Journal reports. Based in Zurich, Aquilina will lead the new business development for some of the clients across the emerging markets.

Aquilina will work under Paul Raphael, head of global markets overall for UBS. Most recently, Aquilina served as vice-chairman at Barclays Wealth, the U.K. bank’s private banking subsidiary for the wealthy.
