Vanguard intends to roll out two global bond index funds – the Vanguard Total International Bond Index Fund and the Vanguard Emerging Markets Government Bond Index Fund. These two will be the investment manager’s first global fixed income funds for U.S. investors. Vanguard administered approximately $1.6 trillion in U.S. mutual funds as of February, 2011.
The Vanguard Total International Bond Fund will benchmark its investment performance against the Barclays Global Aggregate ex-USD Float Adjusted Index (Hedged). The Vanguard Emerging Markets Government Bond Index Fund will aim to be in consonance with the investment performance of the Barclays Emerging Markets Sovereign Index (USD).
