Barclays reported lower earnings from its commodities trading division in the second quarter of 2011, Reuters reports. Barclays’ daily average VaR in commodities fell to £14 million in the first half of 2011, compared with £16 million in 2010.
The bank’s overall VaR fell from £57 million to £48 million. However, banks including BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank reported strong earnings in commodities trading.
