Oxfordshire-based asset manager Invesco Perpetual has hired Simon Laing as head of U.S. equity fund management.

Oxfordshire-based asset manager Invesco Perpetual has hired Simon Laing as head of U.S. equity fund management, Financial Times reports. He will also have the responsibility of running its £332 million U.S. Equity fund. He will take up both his roles in January.

Most recently, Laing was director at London-based investment firm Newton Investment Management, where he managed the £60 million Newton American fund. He succeeds Andrew Shard, who resigned as manager of the underperforming fund in July. Nick Mustoe, chief investment officer, has been running the fund in the interim.
