In April the California State Teachers’ Retirement System begins a search for a consultant to help with its hedge fund investments. That same month the Florida State Board of Administration makes its first investment in hedge funds. In July, Congress passes the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which reinstates hedge fund registration. In October, CalSTRS announces that it intends to award a contract to Lyxor Asset Management to be its global macro hedge fund consultant.
