The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is planning to set up a new division of market data collection and analysis, Finextra reports. The regulator is aiming to reduce its dependence on the exchanges it regulates for data dissemination. The new division would develop its own algorithms. The agency also plans to create another subcommittee of its Technology Advisory Committee to focus on developing a standardized reference data depository for defining and describing derivatives contracts.
