New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS) has appointed Frederick Herrmann as managing director of public equities, Pensions & Investments reports. In his new role, Herrmann will manage $43 billion invested in public equities.

He is succeeding Lillyn Teh, who will remain with the system for an undetermined period to assist in the transition. Previously, Herrmann served as a managing director and portfolio manager at BlackRock.
