Illinois Surs To Hire Managers, Custodians

The Illinois State Universities Retirement System is seeking non-core opportunistic real estate managers to run $150 million.

The Illinois State Universities Retirement System (Illinois Surs) is seeking non-core opportunistic real estate managers to run $150 million, Pensions & Investments reports. The retirement system has also issued request for proposals (RFPs) for providers of global master custodian and securities lending services. The $13.4 billion defined benefit fund, which may hire more than one real estate manager, will consider hiring both direct real estate funds and funds of funds. Callan Associates, Surs’ investment consultant, is assisting in the search process. Northern Trust, the system’s incumbent global custodian, and Credit Suisse Group, incumbent securities lending agent, can rebid for the role.
