Venezuela Gets $4B Russian Loan

Russian has provided a $4 billion loan to Venezuela for defense expenditure.

Russian has provided a $4 billion loan to Venezuela for defense expenditure, Financial Times reports. In return for the loan, Russia is getting access to heavy crude and offshore gas fields in the South American country.

The Russian credit facility comes after a $4 billion loan from China to Hugo Chávez’s government. The Russian loan will be provided in two equal parts in 2012 and 2013, adds Bloomberg.
