The volume of credit-card asset-backed securities fell roughly 20% in 2010 and is likely to continue to shrink this year as banks turn to funding alternatives, according to Barclays analysts. Barclays said accounting rule changes last year forced companies to absorb securitizations to their balance sheets. “The decision to tap the credit card ABS market has now become primarily one of economics,” the analysts said.
