Barclays is planning to slash about 100-1,000 jobs at its U.K. corporate unit to cut costs and boost profitability, Bloomberg reports. The bank is offering the employees voluntary redundancy packages. Barclays employs about 11,000 people globally in its corporate banking unit. The move follows the 1,000 job cuts in Barclays’ retail bank earlier in 2011, and the reduction of about 200 jobs in its Barclays Capital investment banking unit, adds Automated Trader.
