Gerald McEntee, chairman of the $850 million pension fund AFSCME Employees Pension Plan, will be leaving in June, Pensions & Investments reports. McEntee had earlier retired as president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the largest public employee and healthcare workers union in the U.S. AFSCME Employees Pension Plan manages the savings of the union's own employees.
Lee Saunders, AFSCME secretary-treasurer and a member of the pension fund's executive committee, is planning to contend for the union presidency. He will also be named as chairman of the pension plan if he is gets the union presidency position.
