Yorkshire Building Society is in merger discussions with Norwich & Peterborough Building Society (N&P), The Wall Street Journal reports. Currently, it is conducting due diligence on N&P. A deal will hamper Virgin Money’s plan to acquire N&P, which has been granted a period of exclusivity. U.S. private equity firm, JC Flowers, is also believed to be interested in the building society, adds Financial Times.
